I think that the episode of the Simpsons is a very well done idea to express the real meaning of the short story “The Lottery”. In this episode they have a lot of similarities like the part where if someone of Springfield do this kind of tradition the other people started making it and they don’t even know why they do it. The creator of the Simpsons adapted The Lottery into one of their episodes and the idea was to show the real message of the short story and that more people can catch the message. I think that the author did a very good job in transforming the short story because he needed to make the story funny, and is very hard to make something that is a serious script into a funny cartoon without offending someone. You need a lot of imagination to do this and that is why a very big quantity of the creators of cartoons are kids, because they are the ones that see them, and they have much more imagination because they aren’t completely on this world, they are in their world where there are no jobs for them or important things to do. In conclusion the transformation of an idea to a specific work needs imagination and hard work.
